Boat Poem

I had to wake up early for this

I would have much rather keep my ignorance of this as it was bliss

I’m stuck in a color blind confused neon orange raft, as I don’t call this a boat

With the amount of water in it, it shouldn’t even float

It’s too hot and bright

Forgot my sunglasses to dim the light

The bugs are everywhere

While I want them nowhere near

From all this paddling my arms are sore

I really don’t want to do this any more

I sat and stared around me

And all around me were cat tails and water as far as I could see

My family farther ahead

While I just wanted to head back to bed

But then I saw my little brother

And got stuck in a pep talk (see: scolding) from my mother

And my outlook on this whole thing sort of changed

With another look at my brother my thoughts were rearranged

This was for him not myself and I couldn’t let him down

So I turned my boat and mood around

And raced after him

In the end I enjoyed myself even if the chances were slim
