Bodies

Bodies.

Bodies made of muscle and skin and bones, made of strength yet mine, mine was a cage, a fragile cage spindled in porcelain

It was a broken wall, dust left in the ruins of what it could have been. I accepted it, even embraced it for a time, looking into the mirror and seeing not me, but the cage that kept me from escaping the restrains of my clouded mind

I thought that was how it was going to be, and that I should start getting used to it.At first, it was just the voices of the other one, my tormentor that slept under the same roof, that fueled my worries

Then

My tormentor became my reflection. Me, and the voices in my head that whispered and taunted, never relenting, never holding back

And me?

I kept quiet, I listened, and I let my body decay into a dying tree

For the void to close, for the abyss in my soul to come to an end

For the ocean to open up, so I could swim
