Body

I am a person With a soul and feelings. A person with an opinion And a mind of my own. But more than a person, I am a body. I am a treasured vessel, Owned by myself. My dark chocolate skin covers My wildly beating heart. But you'd rather see The flesh and fat on the outside Than the heart and soul on the inside. The soul that begs for affection and care, But will never be seen as more than a body. The heart that longs for love, But will never be seen as more than a body that can be used for "love." I am a person who longs to be swept off my feet and find a love like the ones in Disney movies and cliche films. But more than that person, I am a body. A body who, according to you, should be seen and not heard. A body who should answer to your call and heed your every word. A body who should be okay with being treated less than human, and almost like a pet. A body who has no rights. I am a body. But more than a body you can prey on, I am a human being. I have a name. And this body, this person, this human being with a name and a life, deserves as much as you.
