Body Parts

When my best friend told me her mom was diagnosed with cancer,

I gave her my hands to pray,
When I woke up in the middle of the night from the sound of my mothers dismay,
I gave her my shoulders,
And when I walked down the subway station I handed my leg to the man hopping towards the gate to catch the train, I have him my legs,,
In the 11th grade when the boy who sat across from me in history told me he didn't want anything serious,
I gave him my lips,
When the girl on the bus was getting teased about not being able to see
I gave her my eyes,
And left my ears behind,
When I found someone who didn't only want my lips, I gave him my heart and my hips,
When that wasn't enough I let him rip my rib cage out of chest,
I told him to be gentle and he swore that he did, but I gave up my ability to feel the first time someone felt me,
As i slipped my brain into your hands
It slipped my mind that I should probably keep some of myself for myself,
At least I have nothing to loose now
