A Body’s Decay

A good day

Joy laden all the way

Tainted only by the decay

Of my feeble body

Such a minute piece of my being

Has oft’ brought me to kneeling

And left my mind swamped with hate

Toward my neighbors, my world, and I

Yet to spite this pain I steel my heart

Recalling the forgotten joy I’ve held from the start

For though the pain has left its mark

I can still be happy
