The Bond

I am…… Scholarship

The Bond

A story that I must keep untold

But in this rare occasion for you I will unfold

A story about a family disconnected

And grim reality that strongly affected

It was a night of happiness and rejoice

We were invited to a relative’s house and we had no choice

While getting dressed and fixing my hair

I noticed the hateful and sorrowing stare

My parents erupted like an active volcano

Screaming and cursing I had nowhere to go

It was supposed to be a day filled with pleasure

But it did not come close by any measure

In my eyes that moment was a test

To see what characteristic truly fits best

I looked my parents in the eyes

And had to find a way to reconnect the family ties

My sister in shock of the situation

It was like a scene in a waring nation

It was up to me to instigate relaxation

Even though there was no time for contemplation

As the two parts of my life clashed and clamored

I thought that they were enamored

I took them both and showed them a revelation

That we must act like a unified nation

All of us working together like the parts machine

Who knows what the other outcome would have been

This is my experience although not fond

Of how I became the family bond.
