The Bondage of Blood

The food that was shared, and the bread that was broken.

The times that you cared with the words you have spoken.

Tied us together like a bow on a gift.

It’s crazy to think of the sudden life shifts.

You have remained as time has untamed.

Through a lot of my pain that goes without name.

There from the start making stronger our hearts.

By intwining our involvement we have grown to be smart.

Something I’ve learned, while the tables have turned.

While the Tamales were made and the pozole was churned.

Nothing breaks the bondage of blood.

You could throw me in a fire you could drown me in the mud.

The red in my veins would stay tied to kin.

The love that we share will never fail to win.
