Bones
There’s a storm outside the window
And I can feel it in my bones.
I can feel the storm in my bones.
I can feel the damp seeping through my skin
The opposite of your warmth
And I like it.
I like how it reminds me that
You’re not here.
It sounds strange, I know
But it’s a reminder that warmth belongs to you
Not to the rain
Or the storm
Or me.
The warmth belongs to you
Soaking through to my bones
It was nice,
Sitting next to you
Feeling your warmth beside me
Surrounding me
Within me.
You thawed my frozen marrow
And it felt nice.
But rain is nice, too
Because the cold rain belongs to me.
The storm belongs inside me.
And there’s a storm outside the window
And I can feel it in my bones.
I can feel myself in my bones
And I wish
You could feel me in your bones, too.
