Bonfire

In the flames of the fire Memory’s pictures admire; As the flames warm your face Memories drift in with grace. And the warmth of forgotten Good times rush back, Time stops and is caught in A trance; it is blocked. But when bathing in memories Be careful, nostalgia. As the woods and the trees Crack with wind and a startle And a smile you bear; Sadness tears you apart; A tear, single tear Slides down the cheek of your heart And a clump rise within A sob in your throat But a smile with sin Shines with power afloat. The smile, the tear Conquers love and fear As the fire tonight Lights the dark, cloudy, night.
