Book of Life
The book of life contains the pages of age.
A chapter ends and a new one begins,
as the turning of each page resumes.
In ink, my birth was penned in.
Carved in stone, my death was set.
Day by day, night by night, evening by evening,
through winters, summers, falls, and springs,
the sun sets and once again the sun rises.
I was naive and at ease then,
but now I carry duties and strife,
both paved the way to well-known and well-lived.
The book of life contains the pages of age,
A chapter ends and a new one begins.
In ink, my birth was penned in.
Carved in stone, my death was set.
To eternity, I love you, the dearests of my flesh and of my blood.
