Books

I think of all the people,

Who have come into my life,

Even those who lied to me,

And cut me with their knife.

I can’t believe my “friends,”

Who told me that were true,

Would walk right away,

From the person that they knew.

But I think about the thing,

That has kept me mostly sane,

The passion that I feel,

From the books that I would gain.

Percy Jackson, Harry Potter,

Darkest Minds as well

These are just a few of them,

That got me through my hell.

Fantasy adventures,

That’s where I’d escape.

Watching my characters unfold,

Taking on their shape.

Pain, joy, fear, and power

Coming through the books,

Taking all my emotions,

With just a simple look.

These books have become my friends,

My family, and my soul.

They got me to where I am,

Because they made me feel whole.

And though this poem is simple,

It’s rhymes are surely sweet,

Do not let it fool you,

It is anything but  neat
