Books are my World

You don’t understand that books are my world

They are doors to magical lands

To kings and queens

Wizards and witches

Far away from the real world

Far away from the dread

From villains to heroes

I’ve met them all

Away from the drama of high school

And to the drama on a stage

Where Shakespeare’s plays come to life

To places where there is magic all night

Warlocks to dragons

Fairies and dwarfs

To real life scenarios

Lawsuits; school

Most end well

Some end happy not like real life

Where it can end at rock bottom

The cliff to jump from

The knife to plunge

The trigger to pull

Real life sucks

There is drama and hate

Love and war

Confusion clotting the brain

I try to escape

I rip open these doors to get away

A few hours playing hero

Or a villain on the run

Maybe ruling a city

Running into war or battle

I try to get away

All this real life stress

You don’t understand that books are my world

The places I go to get away from it all

So please let me escape
