The Books Lie
The walls are building back up shielding away sorrow
The key is taken back locking your heart into place
The tears turn into oceans of hurt
Nothing is like the whirlwind of love they sale
The excuse of it being how guys are is long forgotten
The standards raised even higher
The reach for happiness even farther
All the while—your whispers, hidden meanings, pleading eyes go unnoticed
For if it were real love you would not back down, you would not give up so easily, you would have eyes for only the one you love, and you would never let go
BUT in the modern world
Chivalry is dead
Honesty is forgotten with a cross of fingers
Loyalty has a double clause of knives in your back
And the promises of a happily ever after
Well, those only exist in fairytales
