On the Border

Freedom -a return of serotonin and peace,

without any drugs there's a pressure release.

Relief from worry, suffering and pain,

light and sound don't bother, being simply plain.

We see the demise of love, unreciprocated,

followed by the genesis of love, precipitated.

A parity of compassion leaves no room for indifference,

despair has no hope, for we both have resilience.

We have time to walk, hold hands, and smile

-nothing tears us into rank and file.

Nothing inhibits happiness or individuality,

despite the alarming facts of reality.

Verses remain verses and don't turn into versus,

their magic makes tangible and gives me a purpose.

Warmth replaces cold, although Winter knocked,

we stand and guard the threshold, fingers interlocked.

The unclouded future gives us a brilliant golden path,

to walk side by side and escape unwanted wrath.

A refuge, a safe place, our own permanent domain,

a haven to retreat to, when we're on the border of insane.

This is for those who care about someone and may be running out of hope for a future. There is always a way out, you just have to make it!
