Born in America
Born in America but my parents aren’t American thought I could fit in two nations but I'm told I'm too American too fit in Mexico but in America, I'm too Mexican to fit in America, " So what the heck am I" I live in a nation who claims to be free yet where's the key to set me free from this catastrophe I was raised to fight for what I believe yet this society makes us so naive they say I should sit still look pretty but I’m tired of being pretty I just want to be me we are all in an awkward stage where our names aren't written in any page we sit still like ducks with chains wrapped around our brains while our hearts are empty with no space to fill the boys are supposed to be entertained while the girls are supposed to be quiet and they are filled with so much pain watch it all unfold but what if I told you that these times changed us girls are ready to play the games the boys made. Society builds false accusations that fill the different generations with oh here’s my application let me start over back to when life was a little difficult But nothing is worse than you leaving the best for the worst Not knowing if you did something wrong
But I guess that’s why I could never trust because the more I tried to get close, the more my heart got burstKnowing I could leave at any time just for you to pull the string and keep me by your side and know I’m lost at sea drowning in all these sheets with tears that can never be cleaned Bringing terror to the effects you brought once an upon to me And now looking back at that knowing I was the biggest fool I could ever be Thought if I could change you it could have changed me but now I can’t feel anything I’m numb but deep in sleep Seems to be me that I’ve been caught lying in the streets not being able to count the sheep But now this won’t happen again Because now I know that you were one that was hurt the most
