Born into the color of

Born into the color of my skin I was destined to fail.

A lifetime full of trials hitting me like hail.

I would have never made it out alive.

Just another latina deprived, fighting to live and strive.

Devouring the lies and feeding the beast,

Just another latina in a white man's world.

Proud to be hispanic,

But my brown skin is what ignorant people see as a curse.

I see it as a gift.

I see the look in their eyes,

The fear when when we walk by on the street.

They know I am strong, and they are weak, but they won't admit defeat.

Somos fuertes.

Always taking from the people instead of giving.

But we were once a peaceful nation growing strong.

The color under their skin, makes me want to cry.

A powerful people who are fed with a silver spoon.

I will have my justice, it's not fair.

But somos luchadores.
