Born with Sin

(poems go here) Barely able to see, Barely able to breath, Barely able to cry I came into this world vastly unable to understand Completely helpless and seemingly innocent I took my first gasps of air And felt the tears of those who would guide me as far as they could Though so protected by the joy and love in their eyes a vile thing lingered near In a swift moment of fear engrossed by suffocating darkness evil filled my lungs For a split second completely alone a taste of death covered my skin and Sin welcomed me home Though unaware through my adolescent years It clung to me and compelled me Your tears carried no weight The very things in front of my face beating me down in utter disgrace A grip upon me that would not let go I struggled for light for only a vague show For many hours I lay confused on the ground Reaching for help I seemingly found Once again I felt the warmth The joy the comfort the protection But then I left it for a while so I could be alone And like the prodigal son, Sin welcomed me home So knowingly now I must constantly fight Against this disease I cannot cure Though passionately I strive for righteousness my nature continually lures me The temptations a flee are right behind me But I know your glory is near Ill struggle past hell and will soon reach your majesties throne And with open arms You'll welcome me home
