Boston's Aftermath
Inspiration
Short lived by an expiration
Date set by society
Predetermined in sobriety
Now we're all just drunk with what we thought should be
A perfect utopian society
But now all the lights on the scene
Are flashing on my TV screen
And it's all just so intense
None of it seems to make any sense
Causing me
All this anxiety
But I can't leave
Gluing me to my TV screen
So I stay
And I pray
Wanting it all just to go away
And he's so young so they say
But it's wrong to hope he's ok
It's wrong
He doesn't belong
With all the pain that he's caused
And the crowd holds its applause
For the evil man leaving in the ambulance
For the boy so young without a chance
And he's so young so they say
With all this hate no I'm not ok
No I'm not asking you to forgive
I'm not asking you to forget
But let us not pretend
That there's no precursor to this event
No preserver
To the history that came before
Because in hate
We only find more hate
And this is the lesson leaned by the child
Old enough to know
But never enough to understand
No I'm not saying we deserved it
But we aren't innocent
Because in a child's eyes all hate is the same
No matter who's to blame
So let us not find hate for those who have done wrong
But love for those who have been harmed.
