The Bottle

Looking out at the wavy sea

Feel the sea air cover me

On the horizon, the sun is setting

Peaceful after today's fish-netting

But wait, there's a shape on a wave

Drifting out of a giant sea cave

It grows bigger as it nears

Going so slow, it almost jeers

I finally snatch it out of the ocean

Swiping it up in one big motion

It's a bottle with a note inside

Scarcely damaged by the tide

I take out the message and open it up

Beside me waiting is my faithful pup

I almost recognize the script

On the rock, I almost slipped

"Take me away from these awful chores,

My life is full of many bores"

Looking back on my childhood life

One memory strikes like a knife

I came to the sea many years ago

Back when I thought my parents were foe

Just because they made me work

I thought of them as one big jerk

But they loved me, now I know

Once I grew up, I realized so

I cast a message in this bottle

Doing it I did not dawdle

I never thought it would end up here

The chances are a little queer

I put the note back and looked at the foam

Then turned back around, and I went home
