Box

The box sat in the corner, dusty and faded away.

The faint whispers of ex-lovers and cries of the old ring out everyday.

Her teenage life passed in a blur, drowning in the facade of youth.

Yet in all her joy, she could not forget

the sorrows so intense, only kept away with vermouth.

Her curiosity grew too much and she sat down to repay her debts.

The horrors of past love and haunting memories flooded past her

as the lid was lifted, giving light to movie stubs, polaroids, a rotted teddy bear.

1204

her eyes grew to great waterfalls, and her wails rung out across the world

through social media posts on instagram and twitter
