The Box Lid

The Box Lid

pieces of cardboard lay all around

the pieces fit together

but the picture, I don't understand

it's clear in some places

and other parts are fuzzy

I don't want help I can do this by myself,

even if it is just something that I don't understand

i pull out of the narrow scope

and see the picture, finally

it was the thing I had never dared to hope

The picture can't be that simple

I already cut pieces so they would fit

unstuck and restuck the colored squares on the

cube that I never could solve

Did i finish the cube

or did I cheat and make it look like what i wanted

to see

it doesn't matter now

all the sides are the same color

i’ll never know now

The scars reopened on my mind

I had finally gotten used to the idea

of being in london away from the talking animals,

no more aslan

now I have to relive it all again

but this time I understand the picture.

this time I look back

and I realize that to truly understand something

you have to start from the outside and look inward

don't start with the pieces, start with the lid.
