The Box Marked "FRAGILE"

I come in a box marked "fragile".

I can easily shatter

It doesn't take much to break me

but just because I'm fragile

doesn't mean I'm less valuable.

Often the things that are worth the most

are the most breakable.

Like an expensive glass,

I need to be cared for,

held with soft hands.

I need to be set down ever

...

so

...

gently.

But when I got broken

you picked up my pieces.

One by one

and tried piecing my together.

Like a broken vase,

I will never be the same.

I will be more fragile than ever.

the cracks bonded by the glue and paste

of kind words and sympathy,

never strong enough to hold me together.

Eventually I will shatter again,

then your only option is to throw me away.

When that day comes

and I'm thrown to the side,

like I was

Nothing

to you.

I'll still be begging you

to put me back together again.
