The Boy
It all started when he was a boy
Seeing the world through simple hopeful eyes
He believed every lie they fed him
The truth of reality came in like a hurricane
Snuffing the fantasies of his boy hood
Now responsibility plagued dragging him down
Pinning him to the ground
He could not even make a sound
Encountering the faceless man
He had lost the first round
Vowed never to lose again the next round
Victory was his calling
Wings for the sake of falling
Like a lion he confronted reality
Went for the neck of his foe
Let him feel the pangs of Pain run from nail to toe
Sank his sharp teeth into his prey before he could know
Drank his blood to seal victory without facing retaliation
That boy was now a man.
