The Boy and the Prince

A prince,

Young, fair, gentle, kind--

a perfect prince and a perfect life.

A life of riches, feasts,

Royal excess.

He has everything--and more,

But he knows something is wrong.

So he runs.

A boy,

Young, fair, gentle, kind,

and very hungry, and very poor,

and very alone.

He sneaks through hot, crowded streets at day

and wanders though cold, empty streets at night.

Until one night the prince comes running.

A bump, a fall,

Muttered apologies.

Then a look.

Love at first sight.
