To the Boy that Broke My Heart

To the boy that broke my heart,

You were the type of boy that I read stories about,

The one that wrecked young girls like a hurricane and didn’t bother to turn around and see the destruction you’d caused

The lost soul with messy hair and dark eyes and a dangerous smile

With you I felt invincible, unstoppable, helpless

You were my tragic flaw

You were the villain to my own fairytale

Though the bruises may have faded,

The scars you left still mark my tainted skin

I got so lost in you,

The boy who promised forever with just a temporary kiss

You were a lesson to learn

At an age I couldn’t understand

But if I could uncage my heart, it’d run straight back to you.

She’s even more reckless than I

I was told it takes 21 days to break a bad habit

But 18 months later I’m still losing the battle

Even though I’ve already lost you

541 days and I still can’t love someone

The way I did you

Yours truly,

Ava
