boy of my dreams

i sit here waiting everyday

as his shadow overlaps the sun.

flickers of yellow light break through his hair.

we repeat the same routine every sleepy, sunny afternoon.

i can’t hold a secret the way he thinks i can. but i will try for him anyway

it was just so slow until the day that it wasn’t. first he was in front of me, then next to me. in that moment i knew i would never be the same.

ive always wanted to skip to the good part, but he was right there next to me.
