Boy of Stars

When time was new,

and stars were just born,

a young man was created,

to watch over the universe.

Stardust glittered in his eyes,

suns were woven in his hair,

he looked as though he was made

from galaxies themselves.

All the people of earth

called him the man in the moon,

or Ra,

the god of the sun.

But he was neither.

He was just a boy,

called to watch over

the stars.

As he kept watch

over the years,

he became lonely

and would often visit the moon.

The moon allowed him

to sit and watch

all the people on earth

who seemed to never be alone.

He noticed

that each person

had a partner

to be with while they lived.

“If only,”

He thought,

“I could have someone,

to share my life with.”

He wished for this

each and every day,

until the cosmos heard

his wish.

“After all he’s done for us,”

they said,

“we should at least,

give him someone to share this beauty with.”

And so a girl from earth

was chosen by the cosmos,

to one day

stay with the boy.

When the time had come,

for her to fulfill her destiny,

the cosmos came,

and began to ready her.

They gave her a dress,

that was made from nebulas,

and took her,

to meet the boy.

He was astonished,

to see the girl.

Thanking the cosmos,

he took her to see the universe.

So if you look into the sky

and see a shooting star,

be sure to wave.

The girl and the boy

are passing over earth.
