Bravery

Bravery.

One simple word.

A simple word with so much meaning behind it.

Bravery.

Asking that girl I like to homecoming.

Bravery.

Talking about my past trauma.

Bravery.

Coming to school everyday even when I felt like dying.

Bravery.

Putting that blade back where it came from unused, without a scar on my wrist.

Bravery.

Cowardice.

I used to think that was me.

Cowardice.

I fled from fear.

Cowardice.

I hid behind a mask.

Cowardice.

I never said a word.

Cowardice.

But

one day.

december 15th 2014

A sudden realization slamed on my notebook as word flowed from the pen in my hand of their own mind and accord of who I am.

Beautiful. Kind. Funny. Caring. Loving. Smart.

Who I am.

I was never a coward.

Who am I?

Brave.
