Break Through

Words cut her making the scars visible on her wrists

What is happening to my fists?

Thoughts choke her from the ceiling

What kind of pain am I feeling?

Whispers guide her hand to the gun

Is now the time to run?

Hearts broken pump their last love

Can I fly away like a dove?

Tears well while reaching for the knife

Am I really going to end my life?

Screams try to suffocate her last denial

Maybe I should stop and think a while

Looking down and exhaling

Is my life really failing?

Releasing her from the pain

Thinking of death gives me a migraine

Taking her last breath of sadness

This must be some sort of madness

Her finger quivers on the trigger

My fear of death is getting bigger

She looks around not wanting to forget

I can’t stop now, my fate has been set

Closing her eyes as tears drop down

I feel as though I can cry enough to drown

She thinks about the promises broken

And her little boy, how he would be heartbroken

I will live for him, for that’s all there is to live for

I don’t know what life will have in store

But for now, I must put on a brave face

Because life is all but a race
