Breakeven

Black on Black crime

Your brother’s facing hard time

Why aren’t we united?

The torch is no longer lighted

Were on the same team

Sister we have the same bloodstream

One son’s anger

Put’s another in the chamber

Look back at our history

Our ancestors fought for liberty

Stripped of their humanity

Told they were nothing but vanity

Today they’re free

Only to be re-chained by their own family

We fight over the lack of inequality

In courtrooms and podiums

Yet we overthrow our own

Our belief in one another is blown

We know who we are

So we turn to others for relief

Why must one be in the limelight?

We all need to shine bright

Our brains are closed

When our legs should be

Learn to love outside your race

It’ll make for a better United States.
