Breaking Free
Society beats down upon us like a drummer, producing his cold metal sounds that begin to drone on and on until they all melt into one. Society desires not the mistakes we as humans are destined to fall victim to. It does all in it's power to break us into it's masterpiece. We cannot blunder in society's eyes for that would give way to all that is being held back. We must all fit perfectly into our designated molds and not color too far outside the lines for we fear of losing limbs. These cages that contain us have bars that are splattered with the blood of honorable men and women who could not take these injustices any longer. For although you see wearing what everyone else is wearing as "fashion", it is really among the most heinous of crimes. No two humans are identical so why do we find it natural to constantly become seduced by the act of mimesis? I cannot and will not stand idly by as the society we live in continues to custom make it's people. I will no longer watch as all that I know is stripped to it's core and then run through a machine, being processed like an assembly line. I will not be a victim to the cookie cutter mentality of those around me for all these things are killing us. Individuality is not something to be scared of or to shy away from, but instead should be a quality sought out in ALL. We cannot honestly sit and tell ourselves we're "special" while still being caught up in everyone else's opinions on us. I refuse to be anyone I'm not. This world is made up of too many "John Smiths" and "Jane Does". So I encourage you to break the chains of judgement and contribute to our society in the most healthy way possible - by fighting others' opinions and just being you.
