Breaking Free

Breaking Free
The only things I ever knew,
Was what you gave to me,
I only saw the things you showed,
what you told me to see.
I could only fall when you let me,
I could only speak, when you said “speak”,
and though there were so many bars to meet,
I finally broke free.
I’m not saying I don’t love you,
I’m just not under your control,
You can’t bend me to your point of view,
You can’t break and make my soul.
I’ll stick with you forever,
But I won the silent war,
And I can keep myself together,
Without you there to tell me how.
I think that it’s too late,
For me to start over now,
I’ve felt both love and hate,
I know your why’s and how’s.
I know I’m not grown up yet,
And I live on your tight leash,
I know how to give and get,
And you don’t really have me.
I’m not saying I don’t love you,
I’m just not under your control,
We both have different points and views,
Different hearts and souls.
And I’ll love you forever,
But I won the silent war,
You wish you could remake me,
But I already broke free.
Even now, I’m breaking free.
