Breaking out of Braces

Rewind to 2009

Hair short, Metal filled smile

Overwhelmed with awkwardness

No Idea what future holds

No clue that like trees, hair also grows

and like my favorite sweatshirt, braces could also be outgrown.

Looking back on the times of middle school despair causes me to look to in the mirror

Staring at my reflection

Hair long, straight smile

Overwhelmed with aspiration

So many dreams of what future holds

So many hopes that I made my young self proud

And like my favorite picture, my young self would be smiling

Looking forward to the future, hoping that everything will work out.
