Breaking the Paradigm

All I need is nothing more

than the lines of a song

as life slams its doors

while I’m strung along

As beats keep time

to the rhythm of my heart

I break the paradigm

and slowly fall apart

Lyrics keep track

of the things I won’t say.

My lungs start to crack,

but I didn’t breathe anyway

Instead, my air comes

from the music rushing to my brain

from the sound of the drums

the only things that keep me sane

No matter what’s thrown,

I know I’ll catch it,

in my music filled zone

a place where I perfectly fit
