breakup
he told me i was beautiful. that he loved me. that he’d never leave. *laugh* i should’ve known better. he did what they all do. they make promises they can’t keep. no. they have the nerve to make a promise at all. the definition of promise reads “a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.” well guess what. those things never happen. my hands tremble every time i remember what we had. my bottom lip quivers. reaction. something he doesn’t have. sadness. something he doesn’t feel. tears. something he laughs at instead. i am not missed i am not loved i am not okay. the mere thought of his name halts all other memories. his love turned to hatred faster than i speak. but i am better. i am stronger. being at peace doesn’t have to mean i’m okay. it just means that i don’t miss him. it means i can move on. closure is not just a conversation. it is the searching for the shattered pieces of a broken heart. closure is not found. instead i found myself. which in this case, is more than i could’ve asked for.
