Breathe

Beneath the ruins of a place I called home

I found something, no money could buy

On a journey to discover

Where my life began on this crash course

As I sat by the ashes and the foreclosed sign

I looked up and saw you

A face even Aphrodite envied

For the first time since that day

I felt you next to me

Recalled memories that gave me life

In a place of permanent disarray

All those feelings began to wash away

Give me your light upon my darkness

Give me your strength upon my weakness

Give me your breath so I can breathe

So I can breathe finally.

Words cannot describe your absence

But somehow that is the only thing that fills me

Selfish of me, to think only I lost you

You lost so much more

But the pain runs deeper than the scars left behind

A constant reminder of how life is so fragile

Give me your light upon my darkness

Give me your strength upon my weakness

Give me your breath so I can breathe

So I can breathe finally.

So I can breathe without you, finally…
