To Breathe Again

The time has come, the napper’s bane

The summer shivers from April’s rain

The sandman went and shut his door

No one expects to sleep any more.

The end is near, so rejoice at that

Yet, now the worst is up to bat

Study hard and study long

For all fear they will be wrong.

The crowds are jumpy, nerves are stretched

Failure in stone is not etched

Though success’s price is raised up steep

It’s a goal all students struggle hard to keep.

That final feeling, so long sought

For the first mighty step to loosen the knot

When the finals are done, a sigh relief

Once again a free person, no matter how brief.
