breathing

i woke up at 3:58 with you and Ray LaMontagne dancing circles around my head my bed was a river and i was floating in its water i saw you next to me delusional as i on our river bed. you smiled at me as i went under and held my hand beneath the water. you were the breath i could not breathe at 4:17 when i shattered the surface opened my eyes of sleep starry eyed and in that dream like state but you are not there and i am not drowning. the pressure of the sheets the reminder i am okay. it is 4:21. you are not here i am still breathing.
