Breathing Easy
Waking up, she goes to the bathroom to start her day,
She knows she’s going to have a rough start.
It’s always got to be his way, or the highway,
She comes back to find him up, which is breaking her heart.
He starts with her makeup, how it’s too much,
Then her dress, which is her favorite, but he hates with a passion.
Then he moves to the coworker, which he thinks is pursuing her,
But in reality, she avoids him a bunch.
She storms to the kitchen, with him on her heels.
He gripes about how she’s planning to go out with her friends later tonight,
But she only wants a moment of freedom.
He just can not see how he is making her feel.
She contemplates leaving him, but she knows it will be a struggle,
She packs her suitcase, ready to catch the bus heading South.
He catches her in the act, and throws her against the wall,
When she wakes, her arm is broken, it’s hard to breath.
She loses all hope of ever escaping,
But then she sees the red lights coming.
Apparently, her neighbors heard her screams, and called the police,
When it was all over, she could breath a sigh of relief.
