Breathing Words

With the touch of my hand to the paper, I am powerful I am free My pen is my messenger, and I am the queen Everything in my kingdom holds shards of me The possibilities are endless, and I can breathe The world outside no longer binds me My actions eventually form a blur As I slip into the deepest abyss Writing stanza after stanza; scribbling and scratching away The flood is irresistable, the words flow out And as I fall deeper and deeper The intensity mounts When I finally find myself standing between reality and what I see And I feel my feet hit the floor of the abyss The trance shatters Now fully sober and aware of what I really see I see how important writing is to me; I need it to breathe
