Breathless
I saw you standing there, perfectly still
like a tree on a forgotten hill.
I went to you and felt this love
I was a perch and you my dove
we spent the years with little fights
but you left me despite all my might
you once asked if I even cared
I said nothing and did not dare
if I said yes I would break down
so instead I said some things regretfully profound
now you're gone from my life
I feel this pain cut like a knife.
I cannot breathe I might be dead
and realized it was in my head
I tell myself I didn't love you
for fear of what it might do
I'm finally over you
and I have removed the knife
but I call you back for a round two
without you I cant live my life
its now going great
there is no more hate
just a love that was brought back
I don't feel a knife but a stabbing thumb tack
telling me to run
or buy a gun
but I say no, I can live
you say you don't love me not as a friend
is this what it feels like to be truly depressed
I fear this is the end
I am now breathless, and slowly die
I wish we could have only given it a try
I wake in my bed
maybe it was in my head
a dream of all dreams
that's how it seems
but I still have no air
you're still gone no trace of even a hair
I love you too much to see you go
so I wait until my family lines the row
a man says he loves me
and offers my family a drink that is not tea
there are tears all through the room
as I am lain in my tomb
