Brianna Was Here. (Thank you, Romi.)

Dedicated to my friend, Romi.

B-right lights are blinding when you are chasing the sun.

R-emeber to finish once you have begun.

I-knew I had had to do it. The show had to go on.

A-s I said this, though, I felt a cold sweat in my palm.

N-ever mind that I have this talent to share with the world.

N-ever mind that I am normally a courageous girl.

A-ll I knew was that the blinding, bright lights

W-ere never enough to distract from their faces.

A-ll grim and blue, they ran clear out of patience

S-o I had to sing, and I had to do this.

H-er soul descended: resided within the crowd.

E-ven the friend I lost, was listening to me now.

R-omi gave me courage, and the sweat went away.

E-ver I sang. Ever a tune I made.

T-he melody played. The copper strings resounding.

H-e looked at me to signal the song was starting.

A-s he did this though, I felt a sweat in my palm.

N-ever mind that my job was to just sing one song.

K-ind eyes watched me; it wasn’t the crowd I feared.

Y-es the lights were blinding, but of that I wasn’t scared.

O-nce it came time to sing, I kept my eyes shut.

U-nderneath my eyelids, I still saw the light, and exhaled from my gut.

R-ight then and there, I spread my wings like a bird,

O-ver pouring passion between each word.

M-y instincts were to run, to fly away.

I-n time though, I learned to fight my fears that day.
