Brick by Brick

Have you ever accidentally touched boiling hot water?

At first, the pain hits you

like a thousand bricks,

practically melting off your skin.

While experiencing such excruciating pain,

the spot burned suddenly starts to tingle.

The water is so incredibly hot that it almost

feels cold.

This is the only way I can think to describe my state of being.

As an emotional human being, feelings are often amplified inside of me.

Because of this, I’m probably the most empathetic person you will ever meet,

and it’s a blessing

and a curse.

Every feeling piles up inside of me,

brick by brick,

building the heaviest of walls,

separating my heart and mind.

My emotions are so incredibly heavy that they almost

feel weightless

I feel so much that I almost

feel nothing.

That brick wall gets bashed down by the

numbness that floods my soul,

leaving me to merely float

through life.
