The Bright Side - Question Mark

Where is the scope for optimism today?

Once you are aware of how the system functions,

When you know that you are simply a cog

In the great wheel of global capitalism,

When you break the illusion of freedom

To know how chained and helpless you are,

When you know that what you see

Are just piping hot trays of gourmet traps,

Created to entice you into making more purchases

While not letting your mind wander ,

In case it stumbles upon the true reality

Or even worse starts to develop an anecdote,

What if that happens, you may wonder

What if you realise how things truly function,

Is there a way to defeat this monstrous machinery

Which has grown to be omnipresent?

Look around you

In the words that people utter,

Just how many truly understand

That modern democracy curtails freedom,

That you cannot predict the day of your execution

Once the powerful show their true colours,

How can you be optimistic

Once you decode the true message,

Sent out by those on the throne

In the promises advertised and actions compled?

How can you be optimistic

When you know that if you speak a little loudly,

Your existence stands under threat

It is brave to defy,

But it will take ages for the voices to grow

And break the barrier of this kaleidoscopic prison,

Till you breathe your conscience will fight for you

But if you know that the sounds you emit,

Will simply be absorbed by the hurt winds

How can you be truly optimistic?
