A Bright Yellow Light

I am a mess of lights

Star constellations, a city of buildings past 7pm, a loud concert with fans swaying their phones in the air

I constantly want to be everywhere at once

Even to cities I’ve never seen

I used to never sit in ideas of uncharted territory

When I let pessimistic thoughts devour my every hour

eating me alive, putting me into a dark sleep

I doodled daisies in my notebook

while my mind became inked with darkness

Until I realized daisies are meant to bloom

with time,

I soon became as bright and yellow as the daisies in my notebook

All I know now is light

and I no longer mind the cities that only live in pictures to me

and I let the star constellations guide me

I am a mess none the less

But I’m a mess of brightness and happiness
