A Brighter Future

I was quiet But for what? Why? I love who I am. They don't define me I'd never let them. I am not the person they once met But I am happy to say That I am me. I was never true to myself I knew, but denied And now I can say it. I am different, I had two friends whom only ever knew And I was accepted. Just by being me. They don't define me I'd never let them. Words are what they hide behind No one can say it, What are they trying to find? A way to deny it? I am not straight At least I can admit it. I am here for you, I did this for you Our school will accept Your future IS better Even I will bet. They care and want to know You have to take the first step. You are stronger than their insults and jokes. First you have to prove it to yourself I did, now it's your turn. Breathe Heather, you are free.

I wanted to leave high school with a word to my friends. They all should embrace LGBTQ.
