Bring Honor to Your Family

Dear Father,

Almost 20 years ago, I risked my life for you

not knowing you had risked your life for me too

A natural born Hun, for your wife unbearing,

to capture me so young, I must say, you're quite daring

Now, my Hun father is boiling with anger and fear

while my Hun mother barely holds in her tears

You thought  you had won, you're the king of this game

little did you know it'd be sixteen years of shame

For sixteen years all I did was embarrass

Sixteen years my true family wouldn't cherish

It was your fault that I killed my own people!

Your fault that this war that I fought was so lethal!

My whole life I've been living a lie

and I cannot bear to look in your eyes

I used to see love, they used to give comfort

but now when I think of you I just feel...

hurt

I'll never know what love is

I can't tell Shang because our family won't be trusted

But don't worry and don't fret, your secret's safe with me

and I won't tell a soul who you are to me

Bring honor to your family, will never roll off of my tongue

who I thought was my family, ruined that value when I was young

who am I? Is my identity gone?

I will forever go down in history as the bravest,

Mulan
