Brittany

Last night
I had a dream about lilies

Lost in a field
With the rue and clover
Eyes confused
While stepping past the goldenrod

Letting the smell guide my steps
Soft, but compelling
Leaves passing
Along my outstretched fingertips

Looking for my way out
Upon a brook I found
White lilies on the shore
Then there did my heart sink

Leaning down
To stroke a petal
A single tear
Dropped along my cheek

Landing on the petal
Drinking my sweetness up
I plucked it from the soil
Wove it into my hair

Leaving my dream
With the smell of lilies by my ear
I walked back to reality
But it didn't stop my tears
