Broken
He sat upon his throne, stoic
In his eyes stormy seas and lightning shone
A broken memory hiding in his breath
The stench of booze wafted around him
The rank of drugs run dry
His fingers twitched and shook as he gripped the ornate arms
Around his half-bare feet shattered glass lay strewn, a broken frame, a crumpled photograph
It was never going to be perfect again
Ghostly laughter echoed in the halls
Pitter-pattering feet flitted across the wood
Whispers, soft as the sky, muttered in the dark
Crackling fire popped
Snapped
Broke
Inferno
Guilty embers froze in place
the flames licked eagerly, like a puppy
She smelled like dinner
He frowned
The blackened tatters floated through the air
A single blue eye rolled infront of his boot
An echo screamed as the sun rose
He sat upon the charred chair, stoic
In his eyes stormy seas and inferno blazed
A broken memory on his breath
The whiskey ran dry, but still left its scent
The drugs weren't helping
His fingers twitched and shook as he unfolded the photograph
The broken glass sliced his half-bare feet
It could never be perfect again
