Broken

I'm falling

I’ve hit the ground,

Can’t get up

I’m broken now.

I try to move

Fix myself,

But all I do

Is break myself more.

Shards all around,

I’m on the floor

Can’t make a sound.

My vision blurs

Tears streak,

I hold back my sobs.

Fake and smile,

Pretend all is okay;

And that I’m not

As broken as I really am.

Lying on the floor

Scared to move,

Silent as a mouse

I don’t make a squeak.

Scared with a single word

That all will break;

So I stay silent

And force a smile,

Pretending that I’m fine

When in fact I am broken.

I’m fine,

It’s a lie.

I’m fine,

That’s a lie.

I’m fine,

Can’t you see I’m breaking inside.

I’m fine,

Lying amongst the shards,

Still as broken as I ever was;

I’m not fine.
